On May 13, 2025, we have prepared four study tours to various regions of the Czech Republic, offering participants the opportunity to explore different areas of interest. Two tours will take place in the morning—Kladruby nad Labem and Pilsen—and two in the afternoon—Pilsen and Kutná Hora—all conducted in English. Transportation is included for all participants. Further details regarding the meeting points, exact times, and locations will be announced.
Kladruby nad Labem
The tour of Kladruby nad Labem Castle focuses on the era of Emperor Franz Joseph I and his wife, Empress Elisabeth, known as Sisi. Visitors can explore twelve elegantly furnished halls and chambers and take a glimpse inside the Church of St. Wenceslas and St. Leopold, which was commissioned by the emperor. Additionally, the tour offers a close-up look at the stables of one of the world's oldest stud farms, where guests can meet the historic Old Kladruber horses, once favored by emperors and kings, and learn about the journey of newborn foals as they grow into breeding mares or stallions.
Pilsen
A visit to Pilsen combines rich history with world-renowned beer. The Pilsner Urquell Brewery is a must-see, where you can explore historic cellars, learn about the brewing process, and taste unfiltered beer straight from the oak barrels. Afterward, the city’s historic center offers beautiful landmarks like St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral, with its impressive spire and panoramic views. The Great Synagogue, one of the largest in Europe, adds to the city's cultural charm. Walking through the town, you'll enjoy a mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture that highlights Pilsen’s unique character.
Kutná Hora
The study visit to Kutná Hora offers an enriching exploration of the city's history and culture. It begins with a guided tour of St. Barbara's Cathedral, known for its impressive Gothic architecture. Next, participants visit the Entrée and GASK, before heading to the Vlašský dvůr courtyard, where they are welcomed by city officials and can observe a coin minting demonstration. The tour then includes a visit to the local wine cellars, followed by a visit to the Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady and St. John the Baptist. The day concludes with a walk through the historical center, featuring the Cemetery Church of All Saints with its ossuary, the Wallachian Court, and St. Barbara’s Church.
